WE FIGURED IT OUT!

After a lot of hard work, questioning and investigating, the Badger Students have figured outWHY BONES ARE HARD!
Here are their final models.  They know exactly how the hard bone is put together to make it hard and how the bone works within the animal.

Calcium Investigations

We read about calcium..... 

and figured out that calcium compounds are in bones, they are hard and can be dissolved in acid.  So we put the bones in vinegar.

This is what we saw.  The calcium had come out of the bones and.....

the bones were soft!

Students figured out that cells make up tissues and tissues make up organs.
